EVENT INFORMATION

 

 

RULES & REGULATIONS

 

1            LAW OF THE GAME

 

1.1         The Championship will be conducted under the present rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the World Chinese Badminton Federation. (WCBF)

 

2            EVENT CATEGORIES

 

2.1         The tournament shall comprise 2 main categories of events namely, the PROFESSIONAL Category and the Non-Professional (AMATEUR) Category

 

 

3.1        Ex-professional players who had retired for more than 5 years are eligible to

             Participate in the professional section.  Fresh ex-professionals and current

             Professionals are precluded from this game.

 

3.2  The events in the Professional Category are:

      Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles

 

3.3  The Age groupings for the PROFESSIONAL Category are as follows:

A: 25 years -34 years;

B: 35 years -44 years.

4            NON-PROFESSIONAL (AMATEUR) CATEGORY

 

4.1  The events in the Amateur Category are:

Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Husband/Wife Doubles, Combined-Age Doubles, Mixed  threesome.

 

4.2  The Age groupings for the AMATEUR Category is as follows:

 

4.2.1.      Regular Age groups: 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,

65-69,70-74,75-79, 80-84, 85 & above

 

4.2.2       Combined Age Doubles groups:

A. 100 years (minimum age of the player, 40),

B. 110 years (minimum age of the player, 45),

C. 120 years (minimum age of the player, 50),

D. 130 years (minimum age of the player, 55)

E. 140 years (minimum age of the player, 60).

F.  150 years (minimum age of the player, 65).

 

4.2.3      Mixed Threesome groups:

A: 200 years (minimum 65 yrs age for Men and 60 for Ladies)

B: 220 years (minimum 70 yrs age for Men and 65 for Ladies)

 

 

5.1         Competitors should be aged 25 years and above, Chinese ethnic and without any professional background.

 

5.2      Competitors must be members of a team which should have a minimum of 10 players and 1 team manager.

 

5.3      Competitors may compete in a maximum of 3 Individual events which can be of any combination of Singles, Doubles and/or Mixed Doubles.

 

5.4      Competitors can enter in their actual Age category or a younger Age category.  

 

5.5      In the Husband/Wife Doubles event, the husband’s age shall be the criterion for grouping.

 

5.6      All Amateur competitors are free to take part in either the Professional Category or the Non-Professional (Amateur) category.  

 

5.7      At the beginning of a Match, competitors must produce original proof of identification documents, i e, passports, identity cards, marriage certificates, etc to the Umpire/Officials, failing which shall mean disqualification.

 

5.8      Only registered competitors are eligible to take part in the game. Registration can be done upon arrival at the venue.  

 

5.9      Competitors must be physically fit and shall be self responsible for any injury or accident occur during the game. The organizing committee will only insure participants on a collective basis.

 

 

6.1         The competition shall begin at 9:00am on Friday 18 September, and 8:30am on all subsequent days.

 

6.2         A match is determined by one set of 21 points with no setting, and change-side shall take place at 11 points.

 

6.3         The side that first reaches 21 points wins the match. Points are only awarded to the serving side if he wins.

 

6.4         In the mixed threesome events, each side shall consist of three players, of which one or two must be ladies. During the play only the two front players have the rights to serve and receive. The mode of service (serving and receiving) shall be the same as any ordinary double
